Owing to both their perfected 3D atomic structure and their anisotropic response to control parameters, such as magnetic and/or electric fields, single crystals constitute an essentiel link in the manufacturing chain of high-tech systems for multiferroic domain walls frictionless propagation applications and for optical and laser applications. They are also central to national research programs focused on basic investigations aimed at characterizing the fundamental mechanisms underlying macroscopic magetic, vibrational, optical and electronic properties.
